Villa La Pinede is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of the delightful Provencal village of Maussane Les Alpilles. Maussane has many delightful restaurants, shops and open air cafes around the main square with its historic church. There is an excellent weekly market on Thursdays in Maussane and every day at one of the neighbouring villages.
Provence is filled with ancient and medieval history including magnificent Roman remains at Glanum 10 minutes away between Maussane and St Remy and also at nearby Nimes, Arles, Orange and others including the well preserved Roman viaduct -the Pont du Gard. The Palace of the Popes at Avignon—and of course what’s left of the famous bridge—are well worth a visit.
Walking in the Alpilles on one of the many signed routes-especially recommended outside July and August. The Alpilles is being made into a National park with its centre at St Remy de Provence- 15 minutes away.
The Camargue and its superb beaches and wild-life are nearby.
Marseille and Montpellier are easily reached, so there is lots to see and do. |
